Types of cookies
There are many technologies used to keep information in the user’s computer, which are then collected by websites. The most used is the HTML cookies technology. They allow the user to surf in a simpler way and also to have a better access to the website. They are used to transmit communications to the supplier, in order to supply the service requested by the client. Settings to manage or deactivate cookies vary depending on the browser. However, the user can manage, deactivate or cancel cookies by modifying the browser settings. That deactivation can slow down or even block the access to some parts of the website. The surfing is safe and efficient thanks to technical cookies. The cookies put in the browser and transmit through Google Analytics or through similar statistics services are “technical” only if used with website optimization purposes by the owner of the website, who can collect information about the number of users and how they use the website. Under these conditions, the same rules regarding information and consent, are applied to analytics cookies as to technical cookies. From a duration point of view, we can distinguish between temporary and permanent cookies. Temporary cookies automatically delete at the end of a surfing session and are used to identify the user and to avoid the log-in in every page. Permanent cookies are active up to their expiration date or up to their cancellation by the user. Temporary cookies may be installed in order to allow access and stay in the restricted area of the portal as an authenticated user. They are not memorized in a lasting way but only for the duration of the browsing and up to the closing of the browser. They disappear as the browser closes. They are used only to transmit session identifiers, made of casual numbers generated by a server and used for a safe and efficient website surfing.
Third party cookies
From a source point of view, we can distinguish between cookies sent directly from the website to the browser and third part cookies sent from other websites to the browser.
Permanent cookies usually are third-party cookies
The majority of third-party cookies are tracking cookies, used to detect online behavior, understand interests and customize advertisement proposals for the users.

Profiling third party cookies are used to create profiles related to users, so to suggest advertisements in line with the users’ choices.
